- I sold a property to a guy after he was refered to me from the local surveyor. He than purchased the "neighbors" property and a guy at the local hangout said he owned that peice. They went out there, the guy said yes, this is my property. They contacted the title company used one of their standard sale agreements and completed the purchase. The day the property closed my client called me to tell me how proud of him I should be, he did it on his own. And I was! But he than said the name of the man who sold the property to him and my reply was I have a copy of the deed and that is not the same name as I have for the legal owner. 15 minutes later, I called title company, they knew I was his agent, I asked them if the property he closed on today had this legal discription, which was the legal decription for the peice next to him that he wanted to buy. Title company said no, the property he bought today was the next peice over from that legal description. I called my client back and said I am so sorry to be the one with bad news today but I think you bought the wrong property. The next day I got a call from my client, I was right, he bought the wrong property, 6 months & $ 5000.00 later he was still trying to get his money back and he did but what a ordeal! He promised me by his own Idea, he would never buy property again without his agent. Shortly after this conversation, I found a present on my desk from him and a card saying thank you for looking out for me!
