Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
While the rest of the nation is experiencing a bit of a slow down in the real estate market Utah's market remains strong. This is due to a strong local economy and growth rates as more and more people from other states choose to relocate and make their homes here in Utah.
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I'm a service oriented people person so for me, the best part of being a Realtor is interacting with, and meeting so many different people, whether they are clients, customers, other industry professionals or collegues. I also love homes and design - I am inspired when I see beautiful architecture, floor plans, decorations and design.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
The most challenging part of real estate for me would probably be the desire to have a higher impact on laws and legislation that impact homeowners. There are always pieces of legislation being reviewed at both the state and the national level that can have either a positive or a negative impact on all homeowners and I feel that as a Realtor, it's my responsibility to keep informed about those issues and to work for positive outcomes.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
A couple of years ago I had a listing which had gone under contract. Another agent was representing the buyer in the transaction. The buyer had completed all of their inspections and all deadlines had gone by when they were notified by their lender that they would not be able to qualify for their loan. The transaction was at risk and the buyer was going to lose their earnest money if they couldn't close on the transaction. I referred the buyer's agent to a loan officer that I've worked with in the past who is very good at getting difficult loans through and he was able to qualify her buyer and get a loan through for her client at a lower interest rate and with lower closing costs than the original lender had quoted the buyer - and he did it quickly enough that we still closed by the settlement deadline! The buyer was able to close on the transaction and all parties were very happy about the sale. I was able to take satisfaction in knowing that my experience and the contacts that I've developed through the years protected my seller and made sure that things got done.
What is your best characteristic?
My best characteristic is my attention to detail and my organization skills. My clients can relax with the knowledge that I am watching over their best interests and keeping an eye on deadlines for all parties in a transaction as well as making sure that all legal requirements and paperwork has been taken care of.
Who or what inspires you the most?
My children are my biggest inspiration. I have a strong desire to be a good role model for them and to have a positive effect on the world that we live in.
What is the best advice you ever received?
The best advice I've ever been given is to plan for the future and to live for the moment. Life goes by so quickly - it's important to enjoy every minute of it while planning for a secure future to protect the upcoming years.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I've always lived here in the Wasatch Front and I truely love it here. We live in one of the most beautiful areas that I've ever seen, surrounded by majestic mountains with just a short drive to the completely different, and equally beautiful scenes of Southern Utah - we experience all four seasons. I just can't picture myself living anywhere else.
