What year did you become a real estate agent?
1992
How many years have you been in Real Estate?
Almost 17 years
What is the average home price in your market?
$ 175,000
Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
The Dallas/Fort Worth marketplace is currently quite strong, despite the doom and gloom we hear in the media. While there have been some pricing corrections, those adjustments have been relatively small. Buyers are out there looking to buy, now we just need more sellers to get off the fence. NOW is the time to list.
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I cannot think of another profession that impacts people's live so personally. I feel that I improve my buyers lives by helping them find the best home, in the best neighborhood, that fits within their budget. I help my sellers move on to the next chapter in their lives.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
Improving other Realtors. Unfortunately, it takes very little to get into real estate, and there are way too many agents selling real estate for the wrong reasons. When those agents don't take the job seriously, or do the wrong thing, it reflects poorly on all of us. It creates and uphill battle to prove that some of us ARE trustworthy, ethical, and competent.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
One of my best clients works with me because I instructed them to use another agent. Years ago, I met some folks off a sign call. After showing this couple several homes, they inquired about a home that I had shown to another client. They informed me that another agent had shown them the home prior to our meeting. I informed them that I could help them write up an offer, but if they felt compelled or obligated to work through the agent that showed them the home, and if they trusted her to do a good job in representing them, they should go back to her. They did, but they also began sending me referrals of several family members. I have probably done a dozen sales over the past ten years, simply by taking the high road.
What is your best characteristic?
I have an incredible thirst for knowledge. I am driven to share that knowledge with my clients so that they can make the best decisions.
Who or what inspires you the most?
Knowing that no matter what has happened today, good or bad, tomorrow can always be better.
What is the best advice you ever received?
Man has one mouth and two ears. Learn to listen more.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Actually, I am perfectly content right where I am.
