Current Renter buy a previous house with Mary M Sheffield and would not recommend them to other home buyers.
Mary Margaret Sheffield is a NUT JOB!!!!!!!! I have rented from her for a year and a half. She is derogatory, disrespectful and manipulative. She will manipulate your lease, your rent, and your time until she gets the most money she can get. She is a vulture. She is conniving, money hungry and quite frankly a huge fu*cking B!tCH and this is coming from someone who doesn't use bad language. She convinced me to sign a 6 month lease by swindling me into the idea that my rent wouldn't go up in 6 months and that it would "be easier for her to rent out the place in the summer time when I decide to leave in the future" and put a clause in my lease that the rent would not increase this summer,reassurring me that I would be able to renew my lease this summer. I called to renew my lease and she REFUSED to offer me one and is raising the rent by over 275 dollars in an area where no one pays that much. So now I'm homeless as of mid-summer and made no plans nor saved extra money because I wasn't expecting to move. She is unprofessional, rude, and basically lives in a converted trailor that she brags extensively about when you go by her "home office" She employs her children and screams accross the house at them. She is abrasive, difficult to reach, a liar and a underhanded businesswoman. STAY SO FAR AWAY. SHE WILL SCREW YOU OVER IN ANY WAY SHE GETS. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND RENTAL LAWS IF YOU DO SIGN WITH HER AND GOOD LUCK, I feel sorry for you.

Mary is unreasonable, difficult to deal with, gets overly emotional and tries to make excuses based on family issues... extremely unprofessional. I've had to hear her yelling on the phone with her kids early in the morning when she came by for maintenance (not requested by me). She sent me extremely inflammatory emails threatening to take my deposit for illegitimate reasons prior to move-out and I had to fight very hard, get extensive documentation, and demonstrate my awareness of Texas law to prevent her from taking my money.

She took over as landlord of a unit I had been renting and seemed fine at first, but soon began to make me very nervous. She cancelled and changed times on appointments constantly, her service people rarely showed up when they were supposed to and never completed jobs within the specified time frame. There were safety issues that never got fixed, and when there was a gas leak in the adjoining unit and the tenant was out of town, she refused to do anything and had me deal with the gas company even though I had to evacuate my family and my name was not on the account for that unit and I had no responsibility or even right to deal with the account. Her obsession with her poodle is also off-putting.

Don't ever buy or rent a property from this jackass. He'll do everything in his power to avoid any maintenance, whether it is bringing a property up-to-code, or keeping a fence standing. I have a dog and a 4-year old child who frequently play in the backyard and this SOB doesn't seem to feel that it his obligation as a property manager to keep the fence standing upright. Make sure that you read all of the fine print he puts in any document he sends, because he will use it against you in some way.

If you can avoid doing business with this man then do yourself a favor and avoid him. He fails to do anything in a timely manner, he feels no responsibility as a property owner, and he will do everything he can do word things in a manner that can keep him from obligating himself to anything. I suppose if you own a property and are looking for a property manager who will not make any repairs for your tenants then call Marc.

We bought from HomeTex in 2005 and it has been the worse experience of our lives! They first locked us into a variable rate loan despite all the paperwork they presented saying fixed. We struggled making the payments as the interest creeped over the next few years. Unfortunately, the house was trapped in a foreclosure lawsuit from the loan Jason used to purchase the home originally, so we could not refinance the home outside of the company. We tried everything including all the crappy Housing programs introduced, but no one would let it happen with the lawsuit going on. HomeTex finally agreed to refinance, but only for the original loan amount, despite us having the outstanding loan and having paid on it for almost 4 years. They basically took all the money we paid and pocketed it and then had us restart the 30 year term. Now, we can't refinance with the banks due to the economy. I won't even start about the "fixes" done to the house before we bought it. Every one of them has cost of thousands of $$ since being in the home, despite having an inspection done. Jeff used to be very hands off, but is now hands on. He has been helpful since the last refinance.

Amanda was very helpful and worked with me to understand the selling process, what houses where going for in my area, and what I should do to the house to help it sell quickly. Amanda is pleasant, professional, very (VERY) responsive and most important of all - effective. A huge thanks to Amanda, I definitely recommend her.

I want to let people know that Larry Burklow is the best marketing Realtor in Texas. In a very tight market and with 150+ homes for sale in Steiner Ranch, with less than 10 sales per month, Larry maximized the marketing of my home so I had the best exposure to all available buyers. What a job he did and we were in contract in 59-days, well below the market average. If you want your home to sell, get the best price and without any hassles, you have to call Larry and he will get the job done !!!

I wish I would have read these posts before I leased from her. It was a great property, but she was a horrible person to work with. She was continuously unprofessional, and completely took advantage of us on our move out. In short, she's a horrible landlord and person. Do not rent from her.
BGS buy a previous house with Nick Cochrane and would not recommend them to other home buyers.
I was renting an apartment when Nick Cochrane took over the management of it. He would make arbitrary decisions with no advance notice. Like putting notes in our mailboxes on Wednesday (illegal, Nicky!)to let us know he was shutting off the gas on Monday and we'd have to arrange to turn it on ourselves. It seems to have escaped his notice that we did not have separate gas meters. He just decided we should share the expense among ourselves. Southern Union Gas thought differently though it did take them and the Tenants council to convince him. Look at his website. It says voted best in customer service in 2008. By whom? Doesn't say. Probably by the office staff. The BBB takes a dim view of that. They've contacted him about removing it, but they do not answer. I wouldn't trust anyone who doesn't try to clean up their BBB rating. When I moved, I was talking to the apartment locating service rep. I said I wasn't sure I'd have a very good reference from my current landlord because I'd stood up to his blustering and posturing too often. When she found out it was Nick, she told me not to worry. Everyone who left Campus and Central got bad references and no one paid any attention to him. "I made sure my niece didn't go anywhere NEAR his properties when she started UT."
