MC buy a previous house with Michael Schumpert and would recommend them to other home buyers.
Michael was recommended to me by a colleague and he was wonderful throughout what turned into a very long home search. He helped me with the short sale process which did not work out in the end so he patiently showed me many many more homes to help me find my perfect first place. After a long negotiation process, he finally sealed the deal and I now own a home that I am in love with. His knowledge about all of my options was extensive and what he didn't know with 100% certainty, he found out. I found him to be honest and thorough and always made my best interest his priority.

I rented from him for a year. I should have known better when he printed off a copy of my lease for me to review in advance. When I came by his office to sign the lease he tried to talk to me the entire time telling me that I didn't need to read it as nothing had changed - but it had. He added an extra page that included over a thousand dollars in extra fees. I made a big enough fuss he shredded it. While I was living in his rental - the dishwasher broke, sink leaked and toilet leaked causing water damage. He tried to charge me for the repairs - he never even fixed the dishwasher and sink. When I moved out I was charged for these "damages". He asked if he could show the place once I gave him my months notice and the day he requested was the day I had movers so I asked him to come the next day. He completely ignored my wishes (I had paid that months rent) and brought a viewer in while my movers were there.

My boyfriend and I found this great place to rent downtown. It was renovated, but still had that nice Charleston feel to it. Well, it turns out she knows how to make things look pretty but she cuts corners and has burned bridges with many people in the process. The first day of move in we found the roof was leaking and not just a little bit. It has taken 2 months to even get her to start work on getting the corrected. And in the process we have found that she gave and gives our neighbors the total run around and they purchased the neighboring condo from her! Then our AC wouldn't cool the upstairs less than 89 degrees and she didn't think it was an issue! Finally got that fixed and then get back from vacation and the hot water stops working. Still dealing with that issue because she was to just replace a part instead of replacing the whole thing that is 20 YEARS OLD! WILL NEVER RENT FROM HER AGAIN and hoping have a reason to move out early from this place!
Christy Landeo buy a previous house with Michael Schumpert and would recommend them to other home buyers.
My husband, Dave, and I began working with Michael Schumpert in June of 2010. We had a unique situation in that we still own a home in TN, but were eager to settle in our own home in Mount Pleasant. At the thought of 2 mortgages during a recession- budget was a huge component of our decision process. Also, we both work out of the home, so home layout and reasonable square footage was very important...and so the search began. From the very first meeting, Dave and I could really sense Michael's wealth of knowledge of this real estate market, but also that he understood our needs and seemed eager to find us a home. Throughout the search, Michael was supportive, professional and maintained a positive attitude.....just what we needed because we decided to take the plunge on a "short sale" home opportunity. Five months of waiting and Michael's persistance with the seller paid off; and we were able to close on a wonderful home in an awesome subdivision in Mount Pleasant. We were able to get all of the features we needed at a great price! We truly appreciate Michael's patience with us during the shopping and buying experience. He was there with us every step of the way! We highly recommend partnering with Michael for your real estate needs!

Michael made this process seem simple and effortless, regardless of it being a short sale. I was kept informed and helped me understand everything being a first time home buyer. I look forward to working with him again in my next real estate purchase.

Does not preform maintenance when asked. Avoids phone calls. (His voice message box his full.) Took four months to see a deposit disbursement loaded with bogus charges. None of the work charged was actually completely. When contacted he said he was "holding the funds in reserve, in case he decides to perform repairs in the future." He speaks as though he is superior to his tenants, "It is not open to debate!" I suspect he makes most of his money pocketing his tenants' deposits. If you want to rent from Dennis, be warned: take pictures of everything the day you move in, perform your own repairs, and then take him to court one month after you move out. That is just the way it is.
NKN buy a previous house with Ute L Appleby and would not recommend them to other home buyers.
I hired Ute to manage several properties on referral from my realtor. After 3 months of one failure after another, missing meetings, poor communication, and generally unresonable requests we tried to fire her, and she wouldn't leave. Had to get the realtor involved to have a talk with her. Stay away from Ute Appleby, she's just very unprofessional and not very easy to work with at all. She puts on a good front though... i was singing her praises until the losses started piling up!

I am not a student well I am a student, a 55 year old student. I am also a teacher and my husband a chef who worked at Kiawah. We were not forced out and we did not leave the place unclean in fact we left it in better condition than when we moved in. You cannot argue with facts, she not only tried to but cheated us out of part of our deposit. Plus the fact that we did not receive it in the alloted time so we will be following that up because under SC law we will be getting triple our deposit. I have proof. You may be her colleague which is why you are defending her but she is crooked as the day is long.

I can't believe that I found these reviews online and had to respond immediately, although it is not in my nature to do so. I worked with Ute Appleby and discovered a thoughtful, thorough, energetic agent who knows real estate well and is direct and reasonable. I can only think that these former comments came from disgruntled students who wanted to leave their properties without properly cleaning them. A landlord couldn't ask for better representation in having an agent who cares about the property so well, and a renter couldn't find another agent who knows the market so well. I think Ute is a fabulous agent.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT have dealings with this person. I have just spent two months getting our deposit back and we still haven't gotten the full amount. The first check she sent us was unsigned and the second check was in the backseat of her car for a week because she forgot to mail it. She has been negligent and uncaring and has not had one ounce of professionalism in this matter. You will be very sorry if you deal with Peridot Properties or Ute Appleby. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB and any organization that is a watchdog for realtors in SC and the Charleston area.
