Seth and Julie Klein buy a previous house with Rufina Koshuba and would not recommend them to other home buyers.
Beware potential renters – We rented from Rufina in January of 2009 and had a terrible experience. First, Rufina did not provide us with the house access information in a timely manner as promised. We had to email her and call her over and over again the day of our trip before finally reaching her. We thought we’d been scammed. But we finally got the access information and thought our troubles were over (how stupid were we?) We arrived at the house rental and thought it was beautiful. We had some minor problems. There were no hot showers – only warm even if you were the first one up in the a.m. The closet doors were off the tracks in the bedrooms and the DVD player kept shutting down in the middle of our movies. But we didn’t let these inconveniences ruin our trip and we enjoyed our stay. We don’t like to complain, and my father-in-law even fixed a drawer handle which was also broken upon our arrival. My husband and father-in-law noticed some minor damage to the hot tub cover, and my husband even thought about documenting it with a photo. But we thought it was so minor we decided to ignore it. After we departed, leaving the house in the same or better condition than when we arrived, Rufina informed us she was charging us $100+ for damages to the hot tub cover (the very ones that were there when we arrived). We explained to her that the damage was already there, and yes we should have called her or her assistant and documented it but didn’t because it seemed so minor. We could have called to complain about all the other minor problems as well. But we didn’t care to bother anyone with them. If we had known how petty she was going to be, trust me, we would have been bothering someone for every defect we encountered. I am thoroughly disappointed by her unprofessional behavior and we considered filing a complaint in small claims court. When we threatened to do so, Rufina also retaliated by stating she was going to keep all of our deposit. Ultimately she realized this was not a wise move and returned the undisputed portion. Since we are all employed, we ultimately decided in was not in out interest to take a day off work to go to small claims court. I assume this is how Rufina probably gets away with this sort of behavior. She probably figures taking a $100 here and there adds up for her, but no individual tenant will want to bother with small claims court, especially if they’re from out of town (like us). At the very least, I hope to save other potential renters the trouble we’ve had. RENT FROM SOMEONE ELSE!

She jerked us around and kept some of our deposit money in a beach rental deal. The damage for which she claims to have kept the money was already there when we arrived at the beach house. I will never do business with her again.

I would NOT recommend conducting ANY business with this woman. We rented a vacation home from her and were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the experience. We were required to pay a $300 deposit up front that she never intended to give back. We were charged $100 for a tiny broken plastic clip (similar to what you'd see on a backpack) on the hot tub cover that was broken when we arrived. And when we disagreed, she tried to keep the entire deposit! That was the most infuriating thing but additionally: we couldn't get a hold of the owner to find out where to get the keys and how to get to the house until the afternoon of the very day we were to arrive, there were doors off hinges when we got there and virtually no hot water for showers. She was very unprofessional in handling the dispute over the deposit. RENTER OR BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

No one will ever pay what you are asking for your vacation rentals. Not on the long term. You need to lower you rates. Wake up!
