As a husband and father of two girls, I have plenty of experience being FLEXIBLE! I have also learned how to LISTEN. I spent 23 years on active duty in the Navy, with on my last tour at Oregon State University (Naval ROTC).
While at OSU, I worked to earn my Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and retired in 2005. My family and I fell in love with the Willamette Valley, and with the opportunities for a home anywhere in the country before us, we decided to settle our family here in Albany.
I took on this new role as a REALTOR with enthusiasm, and a passion to help SERVE my clients with their real estate needs. From my naval career, I bring the core values of HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT.
As the host of Real Estate Talk on KGAL 1580 AM, I spend every Saturday morning helping to educate the listeners in the mid-Willamette Valley. For archives of past mp3 shows - go to www.kgal.com/realestatetalk.asp
Dave sells himself, not houses! - Cassy and Jesse Martin (Mar 01, 2009)

"I met Dave while trying to sell him a video camera, we got talking about his job, and I decided right then to have him sell us our first house! His passion for his job was so apparent that I knew he would take care of us through the whole process, and I wasn't wrong!
Dave started slow and never hurried us into anything that we weren't ready to do, we were cautious first-timers and other agents may have grown tired of our questions and stalling, but not Dave. Almost a full six months after initially starting our search we found the perfect house and are now settled into the home of our dreams, a home we would have never found without Dave. He had a great sense of humor throught the process, helped us narrow the field of choices, steered us down the path of a good lender, always made sure we had every piece in order before we went on to the next step, and always gave us good advice and answers to our endless questions. If you are looking for an agent, you can't go wrong with Dave!"
Response: "You know, this job is so much fun - and so easy when you have people like THIS to work with. I have really been blessed in my career to meet some exceptional people...thank you for your kind words and for choosing me to help you."
Great Price Negotiating Strategy - Scott Foss (Feb 13, 2009)

"I met Dave when I was a loan officer. We started referring business to each other. When I decided to sell one of my properties I decided to list it with Dave. It was an investment property and I did not want the tenants to know I was selling it until I had an offer, so I did not let Dave put a sign in the yard or a lockbox on the door. Even with all that working against him, he brought me an offer in about 3 weeks. The offer was however, $30,000 lower than my asking price. We talked at length about how to counter back, and settled on an idea Dave had. It worked, and I got pretty close to full asking price for the property. I have since used Dave to write offers on many properties. He is so honest that he actually talks me out of buying many of them if they have problems, thereby working himself out of a commission. "
Response: "Scott is a great guy - and a terrific contractor. Thanks Scott!" This review has been confirmed by the reviewer.

"David Pautsch was my agent on buying a home. My parents made a move here from another state and he was great. He was efficient in answering questions and moving the sale along. He is very organized and has a great personality. If I needed a agent again in buying or selling a home he would be the one. "
Response: "It doesn't get much better than having people like your Mom and Dad to work with! Credit where credit is due though, Elaine you did an amazing job helping to coordinate and make decisions with your parents, working over a long distance! Thanks for the nice comments..." "Dave was fantastic. This was our first home buying experience and we knew very little about purchasing a home, which questions to ask and how to finalize the deal with not only the seller but also the lender. We trusted Dave Pautsch and he came through for us in more ways than just as an agent but as a new dear friend. If we ever decide to sell our new home and buy another, Dave will be, hands down, our agent for the task."
Response: "I thought we made a great team...thank you for the great review! " This review has been confirmed by the reviewer.

"We used Dave to sell our house in April of 2008, not a great time to be seling. He had a open house, did some radio ads and worked very hard for us. To our pleasant surprise he found us a buyer within a few months and everything went very smoothly. We can even stay in touch with Dave by listening to his radio show every week, Real Estate Talk on KGAL AM 1580 in Albany.... www.kgal.com"
Response: "Thanks! I appreciate the comments about the radio show. Its a lot of fun to put it on every week...and KGAL is a great station. " This review has been confirmed by the reviewer.

What year did you become a real estate agent?
2005
How many years have you been in Real Estate?
3 years plus
What is the average home price in your market?
Albany - 192,000
Corvallis - 252,000
Lebanon - 145,000
Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
New construction has slowed dramatically as inventories rose in the past year. Our inventory in the greater Albany area is now back to levels consistent with a more stable market, down to about 350 from a high of 460 in summer 08.
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I love being a real estate professional. Helping people to achieve their goals, make good decisions, and work their way through some of the complex elements of a real estate transaction are very rewarding for me...Having spent 23 years in the navy, this is so completely different and exciting.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
There has been an increasing lack of trust in real estate professionals over the years. Trying to differentiate myself as a SERVICE professional, versus a stereotypical "sales" person takes a lot of hard work and consistent effort. I'll keep working on it.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
My favorite story is about the woman who contacted me through my radio show to ask a question about commissions. She was interviewing agents to list her home and wrote in to ask me a question - and when I asked her why she hadn't contacted ME to interview - she said "I thought you only did high-end homes!" After a good laugh I got a chance to interview to be her listing agent.
What is your best characteristic?
My sense of humor and positive approach.
Who or what inspires you the most?
My family
What is the best advice you ever received?
Keep your life balanced and your priorities in order. No one ever laid on their death bed wishing they'd spent more time at work.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Hmmm...wherever my wife and kids are! But if it were just my wife and I - maybe Kauai, Hawaii. I love to play golf and my wife always says that she is "solar powered" and loves the beach. We lived on Oahu for a few years while I was in the Navy and still see photos and videos and think about going back.
