Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
Lots of short sales and bank owned properties right now! Lake Tahoe is 80% vacation homes. Carson Valley has become the affordable alternative for locals. Douglas County has a 'slow-growth' initiative which recently passed. Many retirees are moving to Nevada and taking advantage of Nevada's tax benefits.
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I enjoy helping a first time homebuyer achieve their dreams just as much as I enjoy assisting an investor increase their bottom line. Real Estate is a complex process and I enjoy guiding my clients to achieve happiness and success.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
Surviving in this market where qualifying for a loan is becoming increasingly more difficult.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
I was working on a few files at the office and my broker walked in and said "Rachel! Aren't you having a C-section in a couple hours?! Will you stop working and get to the hospital already!"
What is your best characteristic?
I'm hard working & intelligent. I am a good negotiator and problem solver. I'm creative and have excellent computer skills.
Who or what inspires you the most?
My three-year old, Jackson, gives me most of my inspiration but I admire my mother most.
What is the best advice you ever received?
In college I had a professor who taught me to "question everything". He taught that just because something is written in a textbook or that just because something is said by a professor does not necessarily make it fact.
