John Ferris buy a previous house with Mary A McChesney and would recommend them to other home buyers.
We purchased our home in October 2009 through a corporate relocation and Mary was the agent selling the home. She was very professional and was always ready to answer and questions and resolve any issues we had. We have move a number of time within the US and have never had a more positive and easy closing with the diligence and follow through of Mary McChesney. Not only did our closing go well but her knowledge of the Santa Fe (Eldorado) community made us feel at home. Thank you !! JF and DK
Casey Sanford buy a previous house with Mary A McChesney and would recommend them to other home buyers.
We met Mary when she was the selling agent in the home that we purchased almost five years ago in Santa Fe. Mary is wonderful, honest, and frankly a good person. Today, Mary is our friend. Furthermore, I believe that anyone that writes on blogs like this one and is unwilling to sign their name is suspect.

We purchased a home using Mary McChesney as our agent. We moved from out of state and Mary handled all the details of the sale through the phone or e-mail. She is very professional and honest. We would not hesitate to use her in the future and would recommend her to our friends. She is extremely knowledgeable about the area and has been very helpful to us in getting settled in our new home. We have met many people who know Mary and have worked with her and they have only good things to say about her.

We moved from out of state which can be very difficult, our friends told us not to do it. Working with Mary made this potentially difficult move easy. She is a very honest person with high ethical standards. As far as communication with the client she is great, at times I wanted to say "just do it" because she gave me more information than I wanted. She has a great knowledge of the area and was very effective in dealing with the various people we had to work with. When she said she would do something she did it. I have recommended her to friends. I know peope who have purchassed homes from Mary they report good experiencs

McChesney is more than a RE Broker to the builder she represents. She is an undisclosed partner. (this was stated to the Eldorado Water and Sanitation District Manager and reporter for SF New Mexican, 8/29/2007). She also used her unethical strong arm tactics to force a closing with us. Before utilizing their services, verify complaints against the builder with NM Construction Industries Division, then RUN the other direction! We would never recommend her or her partner to anyone.

My friend is a real estate agent that works the Rio Rancho, NM area. Mary McChesney was working with a buyer in Santa Fe who contacted him to show them homes here in Rio Rancho. He advised this buyer that they needed a pre-approval letter or proof of funds prior to him showing her any property. Mary McChesney had no MLS access or knowledge of the Rio Rancho area but decided to take this buyer to Rio Rancho from Santa Fe to “look” at homes and wanted him to meet with her and this buyer. He (my friend) had his lender leave several messages with this buyer to find out her buying status and to get her pre-approved. Buyer never called back. My friend also informed the buyer that prior to meeting to look at homes, the buyer needed to get her pre-approved. My friend is a top agent and works with only qualified buyers as his sellers make it a REQUIREMENT that ONLY pre-approved buyers view their homes that he has listed. Meantime, Mary McChesney called him to meet them to spend the day driving this buyer around town “looking” at properties. He advised Mary that it was his policy and his sellers requirements that they will not show their home to unverified buyers. Mary McChesney called my friend at the end of the day and also called his associate at his office and rudely accused him of unethical treatment because he refused to work with them and drive them all over Rio Rancho looking at homes. Mary McChesney acted very unprofessional, unethical, & disrespectful. If you are a seller, be aware, this agent DOES NOT verify the credibility or buying ability of her buyers. If she brings you an offer, be aware of her not having a qualified buyer. I would hate to do a transaction with her, get to the closing table to find out her client was not approved. If you are a buyer, be aware of her wasting your time! I DO NOT RECOMMEND MARY MCCHESNEY!!

We engaged La Hacienda Real Estate to sell our home and to represent us in a purchase of a new property (Santa Fe, NM). It was an absolute disaster. La Hacienda told us that we had a solid contract for our home sale when, in fact, the buyer never produced the required letters of mortgage prequalification in the timeframe required by contract. When we pointed this out and tried to terminate the contract, OUR agency, instead of helping us get matters resolved, was extremely hostile to us while the buyer's agent threatened to sue us. We had to hire an attorney to negotiate with OUR agency! We agreed, with McChesney's ****urances, to proceed with the sale. The day before closing, neither our agents nor the buyer's agency could produce any proof that the buyer had a loan approved. La Hacienda produced three prequalification letters, and tried to convcince me it was a final approval. When I pointed out that it was not still subject to underwriting, the agent, Claire Brouillette, grabbed the letters out of my hand and stormed awayh in her car. We hired a lawyer, again, who was s****ured by McChesnehy and the title company, Rio GrandeTitle, that everythign was in order so we signed the closing documents. The next day, instead of giving us our money, McChesney called and told us that the morgage company needed an appraisal -- the buyer had never gotten final loan approval and that that the loan had never been approved by the underwriter. We did not get our money for several days, all the while we were paying 100 dollars per day to rent our own home back after closing! All that seemed self serving and incompetent, however there is more! McChesney had, a month earlier, tried to pressure us into signing acontract to purchase a property owned by her friend. The contract was a quick 30 day close with no home sale contingency and an absolute, "loose your earnest money ifyou do not close on time" clause. IT sounded fishy to me, so we declined. We later learned that her freind's house had a well with insufficient legal documentation, that aproximately half of the acreage was an active road easement, and that the heating system was compromised with Entran II -- radiant heat that eventually breaks and required complete replacement of the heating system to a tune of 40,00-50,00 dollars AND requires one to move out of the house for three months while the work is being done. We would have lost our $6,000 earnest money and it would have bene financial disaster for us, as we are close to retirement age, if we had followed McChesney's advice and contracted her freind's property. We ended up spending lots of money on lawyers and feel that McChesney lied to us repeatedly just o get the closing to go through so she could get her commission. In my opinion she was deliberately dishonest and had absolutely not integrity with regard to her obligations to us, her clients.
