Scot Starnes - scumbag
Has anyone been able to find out where this scumbag is at? I too was a victim of his (owes me about $6000). Any leads would be appreciated.
rental agent
from my experience with him, small claims court is the right answer. i understand he went to work with a firm from texas, then went to iraq to get away from his business here( the doors were closing fast on him). and i was told that he is back in charlotte.i know what direction im going in. good luck
Missing Rent
I had similar experiences with Scott. He still owes us 2 months as well. Same story, disbursement checks got later and later until the "Iraq deployment" letter arrived. Are there any other options other than all going to small claims court individually?
skipped town
Supposedly went to Iraq....found this site and realized that's not the case. Any way to get back security deposit that he has? Anyone else in this situation?
Con artist and scammer
I had occasion to use this person's services. I had similar experiences as reported here and never got what I was owed. Records were never turned over, my funds were commingled with someone else's, and it is sad that he will still be able to manage rental property and HOA's (an RE license is not required for that) I happen to know he is not now or never was in the military so the being deployed thing is utter BS.
Outstanding rental
I am glad to see that Mr Starnes license have been pulled. He owes my husband and I (2) months rental payments and the renter her security deposit. He was never on time with rental payments, but made sure that he took out his portion and payments for repairs rather quickly. Like the others we received the letter about being deployed and returning this year and would return any monies owed at that time (FAT CHANCE)
starnes nc license pulled by real estate commissio
I am happy to report that Starnes is no longer allowed to participate in any real estate activities in NC. The NC Real Estate commission last year permanently revoked his real estate license.
Bad Experience
I met with Scott in March of 2007 and was renting through him. All of a sudden with no warning another Agency took over. I had been trying to get my deposit back since then with no sucess. I am now going to small claims court to get my deposit back.
Trying to find Mr. Starnes
I could not ever recomend this person. He seems to have disapeared with three months rent and the security deposit. He always told me the renter was late, only now, after meeting the renter, I find he has receipts for the months in question. Can't find Scott and I can't believe the Iraq story.
small claims court
Scott was very personable and responsive at the begining of our business relationship. As time went on he became very difficult to contact. He would not return call. I started receiving late or no rent checks. He always seems to find a renter for my unit, but they never seem to last more than six months before they have to be evicted for non payment. Most recently he sent me a letter advising that he was being deployed to Iraq. And that he would be stopping all business until he returned a year form now. He still owes me 2 months rent and a security deposit. I plan to file a claim in small claims court.
Small Claims Court
Scott was eager and timely when approached with renting my townhome. After the lease was signed he became hard to contact and failed to follow-up on a number of occasions. I sold the home late last year but he failed to pay the last 2 months proceeds (the tenant had to go to the office to get her deposit back). I posted a complaint with the BBB but he never replied. After multiple demand letters I am pursuing the case in small claims court.
Late Owner Proceeds Payments
We hired Scott Starnes to manage our Charlotte rental property. Our relationship started very pleasantly. Scott helped us get our first lessee. However, as the months went by, our owner proceeds payments started coming later and later. There were even months where not a full rent payment was received. Our payments are now almost 90 days overdue.
Bad rental experience
We hired Scott to be the property manager of our rental house in Charlotte. That was the first bad decision we made. A terrible experience. I do not recommend him.
