Total Slumlord
Mr. Gray offers very low rental units, but you end up getting what you pay for. Maintenance and repairs is non-existant. The first day my roommate and I were in the apartment the HEAT went out (mind you this is in January) and he REFUSED to send anyone out to fix it until the next day. I explained to him that this was highly unacceptable and he basically stated that we could simply move out and he'd refund our rent and deposit. YEA RIGHT! The pilot light continuously went out even after they "fixed" this issue, causing my roommate or myself to have to go into the most disgusting basement to attempt to relight the pilot. Our bathroom ceiling was already damaged and eventually completely collapsed. Mr. Gray and his team simply slapped up a piece of green sheetrock and nailed it to the remaining part of the ceiling. Eventually we received a notice from Mr. Gray and his team stating that the building we were occupying was going to be sold to someone else, and that we were to finish our lease and move out. Good riddance, I must say. Needless to say, Mr. Gray and his team are highly unprofessional, and in my opinion (and clearly the ones posted here) do not provide safe living conditions. If I had one small piece of advise, it would be to avoid Mr. Gray at all costs. There are PLENTLY of low income options that are available. Even if you've had an eviction there are many places that will rent to you if your judgement has been satisfied.
ridiculous
I lived in a rental property owned by Mr.Tony Gray..i recieved a letter that stated the house would be sold on the courtroom steps because it went into foreclosure..he informed me that was'nt true and that he was "refinancing" ...however i'm not the one that will be played for a fool..i asked the bank what should i do..she said i did not need to move out at that point..a couple months later Tgrealestate called me and asked if i still lived there...i asked them why did they need that info..he did not own it anymore...so they informed me that i need to call him and talk to him myself..he said he was in process of "reowning the home"..which i did not believe..i called the bank ...they said that he was lying to me..he said i could continue to live in the house as long as i paid him back rent..he also called the housing authority and said i was late on paying my rent..so he is a big time slumlord and conartist..i would never recommend this man for anything!!!
Former Tenant
Mr. Gray was hired as a third party contractor for the actual owner(out of state) to manage this property. It is true that maintenance is non-exsistant. The roof leaked BAD, the downstairs carpet reeked of dog urine from previous tenants. I replaced that carpet. Rent increased like clock work at the end of my lease. I left not paying the last month's rent...I knew return of the Security Deposit would be a joke. I did receive an itemized Security Deposit Disposition almost 4 months ater I moved out. this is a violation of Kansas Residential landlord Tenant law. To the previous reviwer, check your state's landlord tenant law. It mandates the landlord has NO MORE than 30 days finalize your move-out and security deposit. Violation of these laws allows you to recover up to 2 times the original amount of your security deposit.
Slumlords
Tony Gray is not someone that you should consider if you are wanting to rent from a reputable, trustworthy, professional company. I was recently Ordered to vacate one of his properties thru the city b/c of sewage issues with the residence. Mr. Gray was aware of the problems since Feb. I had feces, urine and anything flushable thru the drain backing up into my bathtub, Mr. Gray ordered his maintenance people to remove the cap from the main pipe under my crawl space which caused the raw sewage to leak under my 10 year old son's bedroom! I also had an issue where my hot water ran for 11 days b/c Mr. Gray didn't care enough to send his workers out and replace the faucet in my tub caused by wear and tear of the equipment - - his response was "whatevers broken you broke it" - - Mr. Gray is a real life Joe Pesci (from the movie 'The Super') Now we are homeless and Mr. Gray is refusing to return my deposit stating that I do not have proof that it was paid!! Other tenants that I have spoken with have experienced similar issues with maintenance as well as homes being foreclosed on and in some cases literally falling apart.
