When I moved away I tried to get my deposit back ($800) and it took my calling 6 times over 6 weeks to get them to give me any information. Finally they told me that my deposit was lost because the previous landlord was in jail. But then a week later I got a letter in the mail showing that they used $480 of my deposit to "clean" the apartment. They listed ridiculous charges such as, $40 to clean the kitchen floor (which I mopped before moving) $25 dollars to clean the counter tops (which were always kept clean) $35 to clean the dishwasher (WTF???) $36 to clean the hard wood floors, which were splattered with paint the day I moved into the place, and which I tried to clean on my own time all of these added up to $480. A complete rip-off. I would not rent from Scoby Realtors.
