Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I know many people answer that by saying "I love homes", that not my main reason or drive at all. I love being in real estate for may reasons but I would say the top three are -, ability to help buyers whether they are investors or first time buyers get a property not only for a great value but help them by making the process as smooth as possible with 100% representation. Second, for the freedom it gives me by being self employed to spend as much time as I can with family, friends and my hobbies which include hot rods. Third, working with sellers which I really thrive on with the marketing side of things. I truly love the marketing of properties and utilizing technology to do it and get my sellers top dollar in any market.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
Honestly, other agents - the part time agents out there trying to do this job and how they typically make a mess for all of us.
What is your best characteristic?
Most of my clients describe me as honest, direct, focused. I would agree and truly feel my best traits are being direct. I have always been this way. For instance if I see an issue with a home I am showing a buyer I bring it up even if it kills the deal, too many agents are out there chasing the all mighty dollar and get blinded by what matters most. With sellers for instance I show the real market value based on market conditions and other properties sold, not by what someone may want to hear. Many agents say one thing to get the listing and then chase sellers around the next week looking for price reductions, thats no way to run a business. I have always felt being open and honest will get everyone further.
Who or what inspires you the most?
My main inspiration comes from proving to myself I can do it. I am a real 'do it yourself' type person and keep myself open to learn from others.
What is the best advice you ever received?
Thats a tough question. I have been blessed to have so many people much smarter than me around my life and have been told many great words of wisdom.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
As much as I love Minnesota I would say somewhere in the Mountains.
