We had no idea realtors worked so hard. It has been a fantastic experience working with David Nelson of Black Dog Realty… not only did he have the knowledge of home construction (from his home renovation business he used to own), but he also had vast knowledge of the lakes on the west side of the Twin Cities Metro area due to the fact that he lived the majority of his life in the area, he was a biology teacher (knowledge of lake ecosystems, etc.) and is an active member on his own lake homeowners association.
Karen and I got lucky finding David… there are lots of realtors on the Internet. We were home shopping out of the area looking for homes via internet… David’s name came up on one property, so we gave him a call. He was very knowledgeable and down to earth… no high-pressure sales pitches, we felt comfortable with him. He worked hard from the start to meet our buying criteria and handled everything professionally.
What was unexpected was after the sale. David put much effort into making sure we were happy after our purchase. We must also mention that our purchase was throughout the busiest home selling season.
I know it must be hard for some realtors to get new homebuyers to sit down and write a note on their home buying experience. Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
The tract development are still being put together and homes are being built both twin/town style as well as single family spec. The develpments are much better in design, both in infrastructure layout and landscaping design..
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I enjoy getting to know and learn about new aquaintances, to have them learn about me and helping them achieve their Real Estate project goals successfully.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
Overcoming the exceptionally negative electronic and print media approach to the housing and surrounding industries.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
Finding the best place for a child in a power wheel chair. The home that works for her and her parents as well as for their relatives. A place that is central to work, school and the small town characteristics wanted by them!
What is your best characteristic?
I will work on a project to get it done well, with success and to the satisfaction the buyer/seller. That means complete honesty even if it is something that any of the partys really do not want to hear.
Who or what inspires you the most?
1. Jesus 2. My loving wife 3. My children/grandchildren 4.Love of enjoying the previously mentioned.
What is the best advice you ever received?
Always reach for the stars, and if you don't get there enjoy the ride to wherever you achieve!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Even in spite of our winters right here in Minnesota. I would however enjoy Hilton Head Island SC in Jan-March with an occasional vist to the Olympic peninsula of Washington State.
