26 years to date. Over the years I have been in both management and sales.
What is the average home price in your market?
The average sales price varies by county. However over all the average sales price is about $300,000
Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
The BRAC (military) move will be bringing in many new jobs, and hence forth more buyers. Currently it is a very strong buyers market with rates down along with home prices.
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
Because I hate getting up in the mornings. But seriously, the business allows for a flexible schedule which allowed me to spend more time with my son. I enjoy people and love working with the first time home buyers. Besides the money isn't bad either!
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
The financial fall has created a market where it is much more difficult to get a buyer into a home. So finding the proper ways for a buyer to finance their new home can be a bit tricky. Same holds true for the sellers, many of the buyers loans are denied at the last minute due to changes in the qualification process. So keeping the deals together in this market has been a challenge.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
I was able to help a family with five foster children under the age of 3 to obtain a larger house that was better suited for their needs. The home they were selling needed major work but their hearts were filled with compassion for these children. It was great to be a part of making their dream come true. Their new home enabled them to make the dreams of many other unwanted children come true. It gave the children a loving comfortable place to live.
What is your best characteristic?
I am a very honest and open person. I build my business relationships based on trust. I never put my commission in front of the buyers/sellers needs or wants. I have actually talked buyers out of a purchase due to condition or location and we forged onward to only find a more suitable home. I have also talked owners out of selling and looking at other options. To me it is not all about the All Mighty Dollar.
Who or what inspires you the most?
The terminally ill children. It is amazing to see their zest for life and resolve of the inevitable. It makes all the other problems seem so trivial. So being successful allows me to make considerable donations to my favorite charity, St Jude's Children's Hospital.
What is the best advice you ever received?
Only treat people as you want to be treated. With dignity, honesty and trust!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Right where I am, close to family and friends. However a second home in Savannah would be nice!
