- Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
- Matching buyers to their ideal properties and finding just the right hook to sell a property is like the ultimate mathmatical word problem. My job allow me to combine my aptitude for problem solving, marketing, negotiating and of course, shopping!
- What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
- Balancing work and free time. My business has never been better, and I am continually seeking out creative ways to manage my systems.
- Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
- I have been fotrunate to sell quite a few listings to my own buyers (for full price) on the first day listed, but I have to say that my favorite deals are the ones that mean the most to my clients. I had a family who lost their first home in Katrina, only to lose their replacement home one month later in Rita. They were on a very limited budget with their insurance money and the only affordable home for them was actually quite perfect. It was a 3 yr-old, 2,300 sq ft home on two acres with a pond right near work and school. This happened to be a HUD foreclosure...these folks had been through six realtors in the month before they met me. They stuck with me and I fought that deal from November until we closed in March. Their lender and HUD didn't really mesh with their various requirements, but we were able to pull it off, and there were plenty of happy tears at the closing table!
- What is your best characteristic?
- I am both creative and analytical, so when my clients and I face a hurdle, I am creative enough to find a great solution and I can also be realistic about what will actually work best, all things (and personalities) considered.
- Who or what inspires you the most?
- This industry as a whole actually inspires me to be the best agent I can be. The opportunities are many, and this is one of very few merit-based businesses in which you WILL succeed if you work hard enough.
- What is the best advice you ever received?
- My grandfather taught this to my dad, who passed it along to me: Always treat the client you are with as though they are your most important client. They will take note and love you for it!
- If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
- Roanoke, VA...in the valley beneath the Blue Ridge Mountains.
