A Pleasure to Work With!

As first-time home buyers, we started our house search with many questions and feeling somewhat overwhelmed. Fortunately, we were lucky enough to work with Sarah Dreiling, who did a fantastic job guiding us through every stage of our first home purchase. Sarah is highly organized, efficient and at the same time extremely down to earth and easy to work with. Also, because of her excellent communication skills, we always knew what to expect in the process and were able to anticipate next steps along the way. Given her knowledge, skills and great personality, it was no surprise that Sarah was working with a large number of clients when we met her. Great Service, Great Agent

We recently enlisted Sarah Dreiling to act as the REALTOR on our behalf for the purchase of a commercial building for our business, ATSI. At the onset of this venture Sarah took charge and made it unnecessary for us to do anything. Being in business for as long as I have I was certain this meant it would be necessary for me to correct things at a later date and pick up the pieces. To my surprise it was just the opposite. Miss Dreiling was totally in charge and in front of everyone involved in the transaction. Sold My Home Before it Hit the Market

Amazing Realtor

Sarah Dreiling approached me about purchasing a home in April of 2007. I had told her that Derek (my husband) and I were going to be renting and looked to move out in August. She then tells me that purchasing a home would be more beneficial because if we rented, we were basically throwing our money away and that there were grants out there for first-time home buyers to utilize in purchasing a home. She asked what we would be paying in rent and then put more figures together for me to take to my husband. Derek and I talked about it and decided to meet with her again. She agreed and we set up our appointment. The day of the appointment, she called me to confirm and to ask if it was okay if another realtor met with us as well. She told me that she was anticipating us asking questions that she was not sure about and did not want us to leave with any lingering questions or doubts. Up until this point, we were not sure if this was a good idea or not but this was the defining moment for us as to who our realtor was going to be and that we were going to buy a home. She made us feel so comfortable and like buying a home was taking a walk in the park. She exuded confidence and knowledge but it was not beneath her to ask for assistance nor did she make up an answer just to pacify us or get us out of her office. The meeting solidified for us that we were going to purchase a home and being first-time home buyers, we were extremely nervous. However, Sarah was reassuring and answered all of our questions by explaining to us what exactly was going on. If there was something that we did not understand, she took the time to meet with us or call us to explain. She made time for us whenever we needed her and she always left us with a feeling of confidence. At our meeting, we told Sarah that we would be ready to purchase a home in the late fall and what our price range would be. She then asked us what exactly we wanted and started sending us emails with listings that matched our criteria. She suggested that we look at the homes that we liked, even if we were not ready to buy so we can see what is out there. So she took us to several listings and asked for our input so that she could narrow her findings down even .further. Then, a listing came on that was a little above our price range that could not have been more perfect. This was another impressing moment because she saw the listing and even though it was little above what we had wanted to spend, she sent it to us anyway to consider it. She felt that it was the house for us. We looked at the pictures in the email and liked what we saw, so we asked to see it. She showed it to us on Thursday and we loved it. We decided to put an offer in and she advised us what would be a good price to offer the seller’s. They countered our offer and we accepted theirs. The whole time we were waiting to hear back on our offer, I was a wreck. I did exactly what Sarah had told me not to do and fell in love with the house. But she calmed me down and told me that it was a solid offer. She let me be a basket-case and helped me through it. After the offer was accepted, she went the extra mile and showed the property to both of my parents, my brother and my father-in-law. She also suggested who we should use for our inspections and appraisals and changed our address for us. She accompanied us to the closing and made sure that everything that she promised us, she did. Before talking with Sarah, we thought that buying a home was something that was not going to happen until my husband was finished with school. However, she took the time to show us that buying a home was something that we could and should do and we have loved being home ever since.

Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
Primarily because I enjoy the opportunity to be of service to others. As a native Lawrencian and KU graduate I feel I have quite a bit of knowledge about the local market that I can pass along to buyers and sellers.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
Without a doubt the hardest part of my job is telling sellers or buyers what they don't want to hear.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
Two of my clients were going through a divorce and needed to sell their home in order to move on. They were in a much higher price range than the average home and the market was certainly not as kind to sellers as it had been in previous years. It was through networking with other Realtors that worked their price range that I was able to get their home under contract before it ever hit the market. We closed 6 weeks later and they were both able to make the necessary arrangements to move forward without the burden of sharing a home together.
What is your best characteristic?
My ability to listen and ask the tough questions. Real estate is not about me, it's about the clients. My job is to take the time to ask them what their wants, needs, motivations, and desires are so that I can better prepare them for the market.
Who or what inspires you the most?
My father was a huge influence and inspiration to me. He taught me the value of hard work, being ethical, and always treating others with respect. He too was self-employed and worked in a service-based industry. I took my cues from him!
What is the best advice you ever received?
Two things: Say what you're going to do for people and then do it. You've got to be there. (This means that even though I'm self-employed I have to be to work by 8:00, dress professionally, make myself available, treat my business like a business, etc)
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Right here in Lawrence, Kansas. I have traveled extensively and will continue to do so. In fact, I take about a month off each year to travel to other countries and throughout the states. Yet Lawrence is not only the place I was raised but it is home for me and hopefully always will be.
