What year did you become a real estate agent?
2002
How many years have you been in Real Estate?
I have been an agent in the city of Chicago for 5+ years.
What is the average home price in your market?
My market is huge and varied. My average sale price has been around $400,000. But again, it depends
Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
Here in the downtown Chicago market and surrounding areas we have many new condo developments. It is very exciting! Prices are strong and new construction prices are rising.
I sell mostly condominiums. Our market has held pretty steady. However, there are some good deals for buyers out there.
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I am a people person. Prior to being a Realtor, I was a teacher. I enjoy helping people. I have achieved a 100% satisfaction rating from my clients for the past 5 years. It's easy, my goals are my client's goals.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
It is challenging to help sellers understand that pricing their home well is the best marketing tool. Pricing too high hurts a property. This is challenging because the market has changed from the early 2000's.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
I had first time buyers, a young married couple, who had a lot of debt from student loans. They thought they couldn't afford to buy. I found them the perfect, large 1 bedroom, an excellent mortgage broker who put a great program together for them, and they got more than they ever thought they could. It was wonderful!
What is your best characteristic?
Honesty. Always be honest with every party to every transaction. Nothing hurts you more than dishonesty.
Who or what inspires you the most?
That would be my husband. He has been a commercial realtor for 35 years. He took part in writing the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for the National Association of Realtors. His work ethic and honesty in all his relationships is what inspires me, professionally and personally.
What is the best advice you ever received?
You catch more bees with honey. I am well known for being pleasant to work with. The trick is to get my way (my client's way) through kindness, and everyone feels good about our deal! Kill 'em with kindness!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I know this sounds prejudice, but I love where I live. The city of Chicago has an energy and rhythm like no other. I love the parks, cultural events, the people. I couldn't live anywhere else! You must come here and see what I mean.
"I enjoy real estate because there is satisfaction at the end of each transaction. You have made someone happy, satisfied and you have made a friend..."
