When IBM wanted us to relocate for the 4th time, this Florida native said “No!” - I had rediscovered the joy of beach living and Florida sunsets. Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
I love using my high tech education and experience along with being a Florida Native passionate about our community to help others find the perfect Florida lifestyle here amongst our bluest backyards...Pinellas County waterfront.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
Having enough hours in the day - our industry has been revolutionized by the ability to leverage technology to get better results for our clients however it's still and always will be a service business of helping clients which is a "feet on the ground" business - so we are challenged to constantly stay on the leading edge while being out with clients - it's rewarding and I can't imagine anyone being part time in this profession - my biggest challenge is I wish I could clone myself - of course using technology like electronic signatures, video updates are examples of how tech helps us do more and be even more effective.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
We had a client how had been referred to us who wanted to sell her current home and buy another one. She was thrilled we were able to sell her home quickly. Then when we were helping her find her next home we ran into a situation where the seller (while the home was listed in the MLS the seller was representing himself) was being unethical and tried to work a deal behind our back asking our client to pay money on the side which would have also meant lying to the lender, not having on the HUD and paying more than it was worth at that time. She "loved" this home and "had to have it" and we had to have a meeting and sat down and explained that even though we had done our job and helped her find this home she loved, the seller was not acting in her best interests and he actually was a real estate attorney by trade so this did not bode well for her and this entire transaction. We also told her that we believed this situation was not in her best interests and we would not be a part of it. She had previously told us how she felt disappointed and taken advantage of in her last home purchase and she had asked us to be her advocate when she originally hired us. While it was very tough, we were prepared to walk away but we told her we would not stand in the way of her getting this home if it's what she wanted but that we could not be part of the transaction (and walked away from getting paid even though we had earned it) because we knew it was not going to end well for her and happy clients are more important to us than anything else. Ultimately she thanked us and when she stepped back from it emotionally she decided on her own to walk away from what she realized was a bad deal for her and asked us to help her find another home - which we did. For us, what's best for our clients ALWAYS comes first.
