What is the average home price in your market?
That's the million dollar question.

Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
Short Sales and Foreclosures are dominating the market as I write this in the 4th quarter of 2008.

Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
It's in my blood! My family have been investors and Realtors for half a century.

What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
The ever changing nature of the market. As a Realtor and a Lender, one year financing dominates Jim and my activities, the next year we are negotiating short sales and repos with lenders and Wall Street investors (dare I say crooks).

Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
There are too many client success stories to list but one does stick out. Jim and I were very satisfied to help a client referral obtain a $20,000 settlement against a sub-prime lender. Those were the good old days!

What is your best characteristic?
Patience. I believe that I am able to keep a cool head when others are not, which translates to a smoother closing. I also have a deep belief that a good deal is one that is good for both sides -- the buyer and the seller.

Who or what inspires you the most?
My son Tony inspires me everyday. Jim La Mattery, my broker and uncle, inspires me to push beyond that which I believe I am capable in achieving.

What is the best advice you ever received?
Rudyard Kipling once said: "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you. If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster and treat those two Impostors just the same; Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it." That is my motto. And lastly, there's always something to smile about:)

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I have been fortunate to live all over the world, from Europe to Asia. I went to school in Tokyo and Europe, and I was born to American parents residing at the time in Grenoble, France. But San Diego is home and this is where I will stay.
