1977
How many years have you been in Real Estate?
Since 1977, Broker Associate, from 1977 to 1985, I was primarily in Residential in Ventura County, C
What is the average home price in your market?
Varies from $400k to $3 million, depending on the property.
Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
We are seeing a slow down, as much of the Country is, however not to the same extent of the rest of the County, or State for that matter. I base on my historic knowledge of the Industry and Trends learned at Fannie Mae, seem to be isolated to very specific areas and problem in Orange County, this is evident in the numbers projected for North OC versus South OC. Different areas, different issues.
San Diego County is a different set of problems and issues. Contact me for the specifics.
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
It is an ever changing set of problems and challenges. The people I associate myself with are of the highest caliber and my repeat business has expanded into "family relationships".
Sometimes this involves, selling to a single woman who then marries, buys a house, has a child and then I move the parents close by. The down side is are the situations in which there has been a family tragedy or break up, at which time I help navigate the couple and family onto more stable ground. Hopefully, it results into the most stable and nurturing environment for their children.
It's a rewarding career with challenges in a constantly changing arena.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
I had to identify the body of my Seller (Mr.) because his parents were very elderly and his wife and daughter were out of town. He was a Sheriff, his partner requested I do this and assist with the arrangements until Jill's return.
I did, but it was difficult to notify the wife & daughter as well as keep the parents very calm and reassured.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
Working for Fannie Mae as their Broker in OC, I had to evict and continue with the foreclosure of a home with a family breaking up.
About 3 years later I received a call from a Referral getting married. The long and the short of the story was that the Referral was the wife of that Foreclosure. Sandy was so impressed with my professional handling of her foreclosure and eviction; she kept the card and remembered me after she was back on her feet and ready to "tie the knot" again.
They are very happily married and now live about 4 blocks from my home. That is about as rewarding as it can get!
What is your best characteristic?
My ability to listen to my clients, focus on their needs and stay the course. I do not nor have I ever place the Commission above their well being, and I never will. Some things are just not worth the money. That philosophy pays off in the end.
Who or what inspires you the most?
The people I work for
What is the best advice you ever received?
What goes around, comes around...it does and I have been very blessed.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
No one spot, I love to travel.
I can hop into a car in most any foreign country and find my way around. If I had to stay put due to physical ailments, I would stay here in South OC. It's the best the US has to offer.
