I like working with people and helping them to realize their goals of home ownership.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
Today's economy and changing lending standards are certainly challenging issues. I think working with people who are encumbered with stressful financial issues is difficult but assisting them in relieving those stresses is personally rewarding to me. In a small town you are not just working with buyers and sellers but friends and neighbors.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
One of my first clients was a young man and his wife who had worked for me prior to my becoming an agent. He was just 21 and they were living in a single wide 2 bedroom mobile home with one child and another one on the way. The developer/broker I had my license with was building a large tract of homes in the early 1980's and there were a few of them offered at starter prices. This couple owned their mobile home and it was worth about $7,000 which was enough for a 10% downpayment on a new home but the trick was getting it sold in the right time frame. It didn't sell but I really wanted them to get started with this home so my wife and I bought it from them so they would have enough to buy their new home. My broker had to lent me the money and it took an extra 3 months but it did eventually sell for close to what I paid them for it. I don't think I made any money on that transaction but they have bought and sold 3 other homes during the last 20 years from me and I have had many referrals from them. It's a great story and I always smile when I think about it. I have not needed to buy any more homes to make a living but I learned alot about real estate and how to work with people.
What is your best characteristic?
My best characteristic is adaptability or flexibility and I am a good listener.
Who or what inspires you the most?
People who work hard and do their job without complaint or expectation of accolade.
What is the best advice you ever received?
Consider the possibilities and think before you speak.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I think I already live in the best place in the world and would not want to live anywhere else.
