The Tufts and Loehr Families wish to thank two of the greatest Realtors in the Santa Ynez Valley, Dave and Marlene Macbeth. We felt that with the current problems in the real estate market, it was the perfect time to purchase a home in foreclosure, the price was so incredible that we contacted Dave and Marlene right away. The home buying process was extremely difficult and exhausting, especially because of the current state of the economy. Luckily we had the professionalism of the Macbeths on our side; they did lots of negotiating and dealing with the banks, getting us the best possible deal and the most important thing of all, the home we were buying. What year did you become a real estate agent?: 1979
How many years have you been in Real Estate?: 1979 - I earned my real estate agent license in 1979 and my Broker's License in 1981
What is the average home price in your market?: It varies but single family residences on small lots will range from $400,000-800,000.
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?: There is nothing more satisfying than working for both my Buyers and Sellers through a successful transaction. I have found through my many years in customer service that it is truly important to treat my clients like they are family. In return I have made wonderful business relationships and developed a great referral basis.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?: Today's economy and changing lending standards are certainly challenging issues. I think working with people who are encumbered with stressful financial issues is difficult but assisting them in relieving those stresses is personally rewarding to me. In a small town you are not just working with buyers and sellers but friends and neighbors.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.: I worked with a young couple who wanted to buy their first home. It was not going to be an easy goal because a number of things needed to be accomplished over time, i.e. improve credit scores, develop a savings plan, reduce debt service. We met and worked out a plan for accomplishing the goals and they were able to position themselves so that in the past year they were able to buy a wonderful home. It needed some work so we used the FHA 203K loan, worked with the FHA inspector and contractor; they put some of their own efforts into the remodel but the end result was fantastic..great home, great location and affordable for them.
What is your best characteristic?: I am a good listener and problem solver.
Who or what inspires you the most?: I think people who work hard and put forth a maximum effort to accomplish their goal; they better themselves and help elevate those around them to a higher level of success and achievement.
What is the best advice you ever received?: No one ever said life was fair or easy but if you work hard, do your best, help others, you will have a good life.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?: I think I live in the best place in the world and wouldn't move anywhere else.
