"Shelly helped us buy and sell our first home. We were a little nervous about the how things worked. Shelly explained everything to us and never rushed us to make decisions. She made us feel really comfortable. WE would use her again in buying or selling a home"
What year did you become a real estate agent?
1999
How many years have you been in Real Estate?
I have been a full time REALTOR since 1999.
What is the average home price in your market?
The median sales price is at $280,000 in the East Valley. It had been steadily decreasing since the
Are there any new developments or trends in your area?
The good news is that the Metro Phoenix area is still a hot bed. We are a job friendly state which brings in business. The housing speculators are slowly leaving the market which is good for sellers and buyers. The people selling now need to sell and the buyers out there are genuine buyers which eliminates the time wasters. It's a good market regardless of what the media says!!!
Why do you enjoy being a real estate agent?
That's a hard one! I like almost everything about my job. It's both fun and challenging to bring the people and properties together.
What is the most challenging issue you face as a Real Estate Professional?
The lack of professionalism and education that runs rampant in the real estate community. It can make the transaction a living nightmare to have a sale going with an agent who either doesn't know what they are doing or doesn't care and is just in it for the quick buck. I take pride in the fact that I am a REALTOR not just a sales person.
Tell us one of your client success stories or an interesting moment in your profession.
I have been very blessed in that I have had outstanding clients. So to narrow down one success story would be hard. As for an interesting moment? I think it would be almost a year ago. I had a cross sale with another agent from another company and she said she was nervous about writing the contract on my listing because she has taken continuing education classes from me and wanted to impress me that she learned something in my classes. It was nice to know I made a difference in the community.
What is your best characteristic?
Integrity and enthusiasm.
Who or what inspires you the most?
I work with a great bunch of individuals both at Remax 2000 and Advanced Realty Education. They inspire me everyday to get out there and do my best. I don't want to let them down.
What is the best advice you ever received?
I have two. First, "Treat everyone like you would want your family treated." Second, "He or She with the most paperwork wins." Which means don't be afraid to disclose information to your client.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I've lived in New York, South Carolina, London, and Phoenix area. I love it here in Chandler. So if I won the lottery I would always keep a house here. Buy I have to say I have always wanted to live in either Venice or Paris.
